Razorbill picks teenage author
05.10.12 | Charlotte Williams
Penguin Children's YA imprint Razorbill has acquired a fan fiction story written by teenage writer Emily Baker, a huge One Direction fan, and originally published on the online youth writing community, movellas.com.
Baker's story, Loving the Band, was the most popular story on the site, with 30,000 fans. Senior fiction editor Lindsey Heaven discovered the story, and acquired world rights from movellas.com.
Heaven said: "We at Penguin Children's are delighted to be publishing Loving the Band. Emily's novel is fresh, romantic, current and completely taps into today's pop culture. Her love of a certain boy band is heartfelt and her passion feeds into every bit of her writing. We were incredibly excited to discover Emily's writing originally on the teen writers' site movellas.com where she had amassed the most incredible fanbase already."
Loving the Band will publish in e-book on 1st November.
