The Random House Group is restructuring its digital team, with new roles which the publisher says strengthen its commitment to creative digital publishing and position the company to take advantage of the new devices on the market.
Zoe Howes moves from her role of editorial director for audiobooks to a new role of editorial director for e-books and audio, where she will lead creative digital publishing based on original texts, while also seeking "to identify authors and titles with the potential to go ‘beyond the book’".
Howes will also look for cross-company digitally led publishing initiatives, including the potential roll-out of new umbrella brands such as CCV's recent venture Brainshots.
A new role of digital editor is being created, reporting to Howes, while assistant editor for audio Jenni Lewis takes on more day-to-day audiobook responsibilities.
Meanwhile Jon Salt is promoted from digital producer to a new role of multimedia editor, working on creative multimedia apps such as the recently launched Nigella Quick Collection and publishing websites with interactive and multimedia content. Salt will report to digital publisher Jonathan Davis, who leads the company's overall activity in new digital publishing. A new
digital producer is being recruited.
Nicole Gross, currently e-marketing executive, is promoted to senior digital executive, providing support in project management and project specifications.
Random House Group Digital director Fionnuala Duggan said the new structure and roles “position us to take advantage of new multimedia colour devices, smartphones and tablets." She added: “We will be exploring many new ways in which our authors can express themselves digitally whilst also providing the digitally-enabled consumer with compelling content wherever and however they
want it.”
