Radical children's prize launches

Specialist children's booksellers Letterbox Library and the Alliance of Radical Booksellers (ARB) are launching a new fiction award, The Little Rebels Children's Book Award.
Nominations are now open to children's fiction for readers aged 12 and under which promotes social justice and was first published in 2012. The closing date for nomiations is 11th January 2013, with the winner to be announced on 11th May 2013.
Guest judges for the prize are children's author Elizabeth Laird and Bookstart co-founder and editor Wendy Cooling. Letterbox Library co-director Fen Coles said: "The award recognises that children's books can be a rich playground for innovative, controversial and provocative thought."
