Quercus signs Colvin story
01.01.70 | Benedicte Page
War correspondent Marie Colvin’s last assignment is remembered in a new book signed by Quercus.
Colvin’s colleague, veteran war photographer Paul Conroy, has written the account of their time in Syria earlier this year, where Colvin was killed by rocket fire. Conroy’s book, Escape from Homs, describes how they smuggled themselves behind enemy lines to follow the crackdown of government forces against rebels in the city. After Colvin’s death, it took five days before Conroy could be evacuated.
Richard Milner at Quercus acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including serial, from Annabel Merullo at Peters, Fraser & Dunlop. He said: “It’s a privilege to be publishing Paul’s book, not least because he’s shown himself to be a naturally gifted writer as well as a great war photographer.”
Escape from Homs will be released in June 2013.
