Quercus is collaborating with audio publisher W F Howes to "dramatically increase" the indie's audio publishing output, with plans to release more than 50 audiobooks every year through digital and physical channels.
Quercus digital director Wayne Davies said: "We believe the audio market is poised for dramatic digital growth and technological change and are confident this joint enterprise positions us perfectly to benefit."
He said: "[The partnership] means we will dramatically increase our audio output for the burgeoning digital download market, gives us a new option for utilising the audio rights accrued in our back catalogue, and allows us to reach audiobook listeners through the widest spread of channels, through download, retail and libraries."
W F Howes c.e.o. Shaun Sibley said: "We are seeing a continual increase in demand of our unabridged audiobook offering. Range is vital to meet the growing demands of the users of this format. Quercus has a fantastic breadth of quality content and we are delighted to be working with them to bring this to market."
