Quercus buys three from 'remarkable' Piper

Quercus has bought three books by Katie Piper, who survived a rape and acid attack in 2008 and told her story through the Channel 4 documentary "Katie: My Beautiful Face" and the follow up series "Katie: My Beautiful Friends".

Quercus non-fiction publishing director Jenny Heller bought world rights in the three books from Fresh Partners, with plans to publish the first new book, an inspirational title called Things Get Better: If you Believe, Then You Will Survive, in May this year.

Heller said: "Katie Piper is one of the most remarkable people I have ever met... She uses her experience and hard-earned wisdom to help others overcome their own issues, however big or small. She is an authentic voice and her upcoming books will offer enormous hope to anyone who has ever suffered distress, heartache or pain of any kind."

Piper's memoir, Beautiful, was published by Ebury in 2011.
