Quadrille buys book by Royal cakemaker Cairns

Quadrille has acquired a baking title by Fiona Cairns, who is to make the wedding cake for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s impending nuptials.

Editorial director Anne Furniss acquired world rights to The Birthday Cake Book from agent Heather Holden Brown. The title will include 50 recipes from modern styles to "sumptuously old-school" designs.

Furniss said the book has "masses of tempting choices". She added: "We were delighted [when Cairns] was chosen as the designer of William and Kate’s main cake for the royal wedding and we felt it was an obvious choice for her to write the book as she is a veteran for catering for every style and taste."

Quadrille will publish in September as an £18.99 hardback.

Cairns’ first title, Bake & Decorate, was recently released in paperback. As owner of the Fiona Cairns business, she has designed cakes for several celebrities including rock stars Bono and Paul McCartney.

What an honor it must have been to be chosen as the designer of William and Kate’s main cake for the royal wedding! I wonder if she got an invitation to the wedding too?

I'm sure that wedding cake pastry chefs all over the world will be lining up to buy this book. It must have been a true honor to be chosen to make the wedding cake for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s impending nuptials. It would surprise me if Fiona Cairns gets wedding invitations to all of the weddings that she designs cakes for.

Will this book only have birthday cake recipes or will it include other cake recipes as well? It would be scrumptious if it included the recipe from the Royal Wedding.

I don't plan on baking any wedding cakes in the near future, but can always be persuaded to bake a birthday cake, even if it isn't anyone's birthday. LOL!

I think that was a very delicious cake. It would be scrumptious if it included the recipe from the Royal Wedding. Thank you.
