Quadrille acquires Sewing Bee TV tie-in
05.12.12 | Charlotte Williams
Quadrille has acquired the tie-in title to forthcoming primetime BBC2 series, "The Great British Sewing Bee".
Publishing director Jane O'Shea bought world rights from Stuart Cooper at Metrostar following a "hotly contested auction".
The book will tie in to the four-part series, produced by Love Productions which also produced "The Great British Bake Off". The series will be presented by Claudia Winkleman and judged by "doyenne of the WI" May Martin and Savile Row tailor Patrick Grant.
The book, written by craft and interiors author Tessa Evelegh, will provide amateur sewers the technical know-how and inspiring projects they need to produce a core collection of more than 25 garments and homewares. It will also celebrate the heritage of sewing, and will be illustrated throughout.
O'Shea said: "We very much hope that 'The Great British Sewing Bee' will reach a wide community of beginner and enthusiast sewers in the same way that the 'Bake Off' has inspired bakers. We are absolutely delighted to be adding the tie-in book which will be as beautiful as it is practically inspiring to our very strong craft list."
