Penguin Press will be publishing a new title by Philip Pullman this autumn, with the Northern Lights author to take a fresh look at Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Penguin Classics publisher Adam Freudenheim commissioned the title, Grimm Tales for Young and Old by Pullman through his agent, Caradoc King at A P Watt, acquiring world English language rights, with plans to publish on 6th September. Penguin US will also publish the title, in November.
The book is comprised of 50 new versions of Pullman's favourite tales from the Brothers Grimm, including some alternative endings, and with an introduction and notes on each tale also written by Pullman. The tales Pullman has taken on include Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood, as well as less well-known tales such as Gambling Hans, Godfather Death and The Shoes that were Danced to Pieces.
