Publishing Technology is reporting its first net profit, having banked £500,000 for the calendar year of 2009, following expansion in Japan, Brazil and Germany and high levels of contract renewals and extensions.
This came despite a slight drop in revenues year-on-year, from £15.4m in 2008, when it made a loss of £1.4m, to £15.3m. Group profit and EBITA remained the same, at £6.1m and £0.9m respectively.
The company said it was "now poised for further growth as markets recover and its new products gain customers".
George Lossius, chief executive of Publishing Technology, said: "Publishing across all sectors is going through huge change. The opportunities are considerable as publishers seek to capitalise on the digital revolution. Never has investment in the right systems and software been so relevant; I am pleased that we have the products to support publishers in their quest to maximise online revenues and support their overall software needs."
Publishing Technology was formed in 2007 following the merger of Ingenta, VISTA, and Publishers Communication Group (PCG).
