Publishers Association plans second digital survey
01.01.70 | Philip Jones
The Publishers Association is launching its second digital survey this year and could introduce a quarterly digital survey by 2012. The trade body said the survey came in response to the "significant growth" in digital sales, with e-book sales up 318% between 2009 and 2010. General digital sales increased 38% in the same period.
The PA has urged publishers to provide data to it and Book Marketing Limited, which will be producing the survey. It said it hopes to publish the second digital survey in September.
Richard Mollet, PA c.e.o., said: "The popularity of e-books, e-book apps and downloads is constantly rising, as reflected in publishers’ sales of these products. It is crucial to get a fuller understanding of how digital publishing is contributing to our sector and how market trends are developing.
"Expanding our digital survey will give us a more accurate picture of this burgeoning market."
