Snowbooks made a profit of more than £14,000 last financial year, down from £17,000 in 2008, despite turnover dropping by roughly 25%.
The London-based independent saw revenues of £235,000 for the year to end-March, compared with £315,000 during the previous 12 months. But cost of sales and administrative expenses also decreased, by a total of more than £70,000.
Emma Barnes, Snowbooks m.d., said she had managed the company costs "very closely", describing the profit as "fantastic given the market". She added: "We did this through closer attention to print runs and more frugality on office expenses. And this was despite £8,000 bad debt from various businesses failing around us."
