Private Eye to mark 50 years with anniversary book
24.08.11 | Graeme Neill
Private Eye is marking its 50th anniversary by publishing a book looking back at the history of the satirical institution.
Private Eye: The First 50 Years is written by Adam Macqueen, a journalist on the magazine since 1997. It will be published by Private Eye Publications on 20th September as a £25 hardback.
The publisher said the book will give the inside story to the magazine's many legal battles, scoops and staff bust-ups. It will feature interviews with current editor Ian Hislop, his predecessor Richard Ingrams and co-founder Christopher Booker. It will also include stories about contributors including Peter Cook, Auberon Waugh and Willie Rushton.
Macqueen said: "I've been digging up stories for the Eye for 14 years, but a lot of stuff I found out about the mag surprised even me. When I discovered it surprised the editor too, I figured I must be doing something right."
