Weidenfeld & Nicolson is to publish Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated by the Prince of Wales.
Amanda Harris, publishing director for non-fiction, bought world rights to the book from Pat Lomax at the Bell Lomax Moreton Agency.
Prince Charles said: “I find it hard to believe that by the time this book is published I shall have been at Highgrove for almost 34 years . . . my enduring hope is that those who visit the garden may find something to inspire, excite, fascinate or soothe them.”
Harris said: “It is an honour and a privilege to publish such a special book. It will be a glorious celebration of His Royal Highness' garden, one that will appeal to keen gardeners and royal fans alike.”
When the Prince of Wales bought Highgrove House in 1981 the surroundings consisted of a brown path running around the house, a lawn and some thorn bushes. The “lavishly illustrated” Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated is a commemoration of how Prince Charles created the gardens as they now exist with help from some British designers including the Marchioness of Salisbury, Rosemary Verey, Miriam Rothschild and Sir Roy Strong.
Chartered landscape architect Bunny Guinness has co-written the book.
Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated will be published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, (£35 hardback and £17.99 e-book) in April 2014.
