Random House author Katie Price is to attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the largest book signing by a single author.
Price's attempt will take place at the O2 Academy, Leeds, at 11 a.m. on 27th July, where she will be signing copies of her new novel, The Comeback Girl, published on 21st July. The name of every fan who attends the event will be printed in the front of her next book, which is due for publication on 27th October.
The current record is held by former world chess champion, Anatoli Karpov, who signed 1,951 copies of his book in eight hours on 21st October 2006.
Random House publicity director Charlotte Bush said: "Since we first published Katie in 2006 we have been delighted by the huge crowds of fans who have turned out for her book signings. The Guinness World Records attempt will be Katie's 113th signing with Random House and we are determined to make it her biggest yet."
Fans are asked to register for the event at katiesrecordbreakingsigning.co.uk.
Waterstone's Leeds will be the official bookseller on the day, and Waterstone's PR and events manager Jon Howells said: "Katie Price gets an incredible response whenever she visits one of our bookshops, so we are delighted to be able to help her in her attempt to smash the world book-signing record."
Records manager at Guinness World Records Liz Smith said the record has only been broken four times in the past 13 years, and said she expected it to be a "tough" challenge.
Previous PR drives for Price have included making five-foot angel wings for her to wear at a signing at Selfridges, with the Household Cavalry hired to drive her down Park Lane in an open-topped carriage.
