Poet John Fairfax dies aged 78

The poet John Fairfax, who co-founded the creative writing community Arvon, has died aged 78, the Guardian reports.

Fairfax wrote works such as the 1980 title Bone Harvest Done (Sidgwick & Jackson) and Adrift on the Star-brow of Taliesin (Phoenix Press), which appeared in 1974.

He also worked with Ted Hughes and Arvon's co-founder John Moat on a book entitled The Way to Write. Arvon was set up in 1968.

He is survived by two sons, three grandchildren and his partner, Helena Michie.
