Phaidon has appointed David Davies, managing director at Bauer, as chief executive officer.
Davies, who launched Grazia magazine at Emap in 2005, will be joining the publisher on 29th November. He will be responsible for running all aspects of the business and will report to a board comprising publisher Richard Schlagman, chairman and chief operating officer Andrew Price, plus recently appointed managing director Amanda Ridout and non-executive board member Luke Johnson.
Schlagman said: "David has been appointed to lead Phaidon at a very exciting time in our development and as we anticipate a new phase of growth. David has, in his activities to date, demonstrated great leadership qualities and I very much look forward to welcoming him to the helm at Phaidon."
Davies said: "The book business is going through rapid change which is simultaneously throwing up considerable challenges and very real opportunities. Phaidon is already well on the road to exploiting some of these and I very much look forward to working with everyone in the company to ensure that the business grows and prospers. I firmly believe that the outstanding content that Phaidon produces will continue to give it a genuine advantage in every arena in which it competes. I feel very protective of the great heritage Phaidon has built up."
