Rick Riordan's mythological series about teenage demigod Percy Jackson, published by Penguin, is the latest bundle of books to go into the FLIPS interactive series created for the Nintendo DS.
Entertainment software company Electronic Arts (EA) is developing FLIPS Percy Jackson, which will include all five books from the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, plus two additional titles: the series companion book The Demigod Files and Tales of the Greek Heroes by Roger Green.
The FLIPS version, available in the UK in February, will include interactive features such as collecting coins to spend in a bestiary featuring monsters from all the books. Meanwhile readers can access more information on myths via a link to The Penguin Dictionary of Classical Mythology.
Penguin digital publisher Jeremy Ettinghausen said the Percy Jackson stories were "perfectly suited" to the FLIPS treatment, while "the additional material gives real benefit to young readers keen to delve deeper into the world of the Greek gods."
He added: "Children's response to the FLIPS titles already published has been really pleasing."
The first FLIPS titles, launched last year, include Penguin books by Cathy Cassidy and Eoin Colfer, and Egmont titles from Enid Blyton and the B Strange Too Ghoul for School series.
