Penguin apologises for Nick Robinson error

Penguin has apologised to the BBC’s political editor Nick Robinson after it wrongly printed that he was a former Sky News journalist in a recent book about the News of the World hacking scandal.

The publisher has admitted a reference to the BBC correspondent in the book Dial M for Murdoch, by Tom Watson and Martin Hickman, published by its imprint Allen Lane, was wrong and will be corrected in any future editions of the title, which was published on 19th April this year, priced £20 in hardback.

A spokeswoman for Penguin said: “Dial M for Murdoch incorrectly states that Nick Robinson, political editor of BBC News, is a former employee of Sky News.  He is not. Penguin Books will correct this error in all future printings of the book and has apologised to Nick Robinson for the mistake and any suggestion that his reporting of the hacking scandal may have been influenced by this connection.”

News Corporation chairman and c.e.o. Rupert Murdoch has been subject to intense media, political and legal scrutiny recently following accusations that phone-hacking at the now defunct tabloid the News of the World was rife.
