Visual pen-pal title to Particular Books

Particular Books (Penguin Press) has acquired Dear Data by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec, two leaders in the data field who have put a “new spin on infographics” through their visual pen-pal relationship.

The book explores the role that data plays in our lives and originates from a correspondence between the two authors - both data visualisation artists who met at a data conference and chose to keep in touch by sending weekly postcards composed of data visualisations in place of words. The result is described as “a thought-provoking visual feast”.

Helen Conford at Particular Books acquired UK & Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) to Dear Data: The Story of a Friendship in Fifty-Two Postcards, from Rebecca Carter at Janklow & Nesbit UK.

Conford said: “I’m delighted to be publishing Dear Data. Data always seems remote and big. Here it is creative and personal, clever and innovative – I hope the book will inspire many of us.”

Carter said: “Giorgia and Stefanie have gathered a huge base of fans for this project online. I’m excited to see how this beautiful book will reach a new audience and get us all drawing data when we’re bored of colouring in.”

The book will be published in September 2016.
