Pan Macmillan is embarking upon its biggest launch campaign of 2010 for Coleen Nolan’s début novel, with an abundance of media appearances to publicise the “Loose Woman’s” book.
Envy, due out on 4th June, priced £7.99, will be supported by a “massive national publicity campaign”. TV appearances include “This Morning”, “GMTV”, “The One Show” and the “Alan Titchmarsh Show”.
Nolan will also be on radio shows such as Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2 and “Woman's Hour” on BBC Radio 4. Interviews will feature in a selection of magazines and newspapers, such as OK, Now, the Mail Weekend and People magazine.
Ellen Wood, marketing manager at Pan Macmillan, said the push would be Pan’s biggest launch campaign of 2010 and one its biggest paperback campaigns of the year.
She added: “We feel this book has a huge audience—not just Coleen’s loyal core audience but also the wider summer read audience. It’s the perfect beach read.”
Envy is set in the world of television, with the protagonist, Karen King, a presenter on a late night talk show. Pan said that with its “glamourous characters” Envy was a “sexy, funny and unforgettable read”.
Ingrid Connell, editorial director for non-fiction, said the novel came about after Pan published Nolan’s autobiography, Upfront and Personal last year.
“She told us after we’d published it that what she really wanted to be was a novelist. She had been scribbling away for years but never really had the confidence or time to do it.”
Connell said Nolan was “really serious” about her writing career and despite only having a two-book deal with Pan, has already got ideas “bouncing around in her head” for book three.
