Pan Mac gets Obsessed after six-figure deal

Pan Macmillan has signed a non-fiction title about the nature of obsession for a significant six-figure sum, written by science journalist David Adam.

In a joint deal with Sarah Crichton, publisher at Sarah Crichton Books, in the US, editorial director Liz Gough bought world rights in the title, Obsessed: Lost in Thought, from Karolina Sutton at Curtis Brown. Pan Macmillan has already had a pre-emptive offer for Brazilian rights from Editoria Objetiva.

Adam investigates the power of intrusive thoughts, how our brains can turn against us, and how obsessive compulsive disorder can affect an individual's life. He draws on psychology, evolutionary biology and neuroscience to explain obsession, and also discusses his own 20-year battle with OCD.
