Pan Macmillan has bought the UK and Commonwealth rights to publish Oprah Winfrey’s first cookbook.
The title, Food, Health and Happiness: ‘On Point’ Recipes for Great Meals and a Better Life, will be released on 3rd January 2017. It is set to discuss her lifelong relationship with food and share recipes “for the meals she loves,” according to the publisher.
News that Oprah Winfrey would be publishing a cookbook was first reported in June this year, with Flatiron Books releasing it in the US on the same date.
Now Robin Harvie, non-fiction publisher at Pan Macmillan, has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the title from Jennifer Rudolph Walsh at WME on behalf of Winfrey.
Winfrey said: “In the past several months on Weight Watchers, I have worked with wonderful chefs to make healthier versions of my favourite meals. When people come to my house for lunch or dinner, the number one thing they ask is, ‘How is this so delicious and still healthy?’ So I decided to answer that question with recipes everyone can enjoy.”
Harvie said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Oprah on her first cookbook. She has created a book that is as inspiring as herself.”
The cookbook is being produced by Melcher Media,
Pan Macmillan will also publish Winfrey’s memoir The Life You Want, with the publication date yet to be confirmed.
