Palgrave Pivot to launch in October

Palgrave Macmillan's new digital publishing initiative Palgrave Pivot will launch its first 20 titles on 30th October.

The venture will enable authors to publish their research at lengths between that of a journal article and a scholarly monograph, breaking down the traditional boundaries of academic publishing, and will publish within 12 weeks of acceptance for full peer review.

Titles will be published digitally to libraries, but also offered as digitally-produced print editions or as e-books for individuals.

Among the launch titles are Fukushima by David Elliott, co-director of the Open University Energy and Environment Research Unit; Preparing for Life in Humanity 2.0 by Steve Fuller, professor of sociology at the University of Warwick and Reflections on Global and Transnational History by Harvard University professor Akira Iriye.

Sporting Times is also on the list; it will be written by Professor Kath Woodward of the Open University during the Olympics themselves, thus making it one of the first scholarly publications on the 2012 games.
