Poet and author Ruth Padel is to chair the judging panel for the Forward Prizes for Poetry 2010.
She will be joined by actress and director Fiona Shaw, poet and columnist Hugo Williams, performance poet Dreadlockalien and journalist and broadcaster Alex Clark.
The three prizes, which reward both established and new writers, comprise the £10,000 Forward Prize for Best Collection, the £5,000 Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection and the £1,000 Forward Prize for Best Single Poem in memory of Michael Donaghy.
The shortlists in each category will be decided in July and the winners announced at a ceremony on 6th October, the eve of National Poetry Day. The Forward Book of Poetry 2011, an anthology of poems highly commended by the judges, will be published on the same day.
Last year’s winner for The Forward Prize for Best Collection was Don Paterson's Rain (Faber); Emma Jones’ The Striped World (Faber) won Best First Collection and Robin Robertson’s At Roane Head (London Review of Books) won the Best Single Poem.
