Children’s author Ali Sparkes has completed a marathon year of writing with up to 10 of her titles due to be published during 2011 by Oxford University Press.
The books include a series for younger readers called Switch (Serum Which Instigates Total Cellular Hijack) and another for older readers, entitled Unleashed.
Sparkes said: “My publisher knows I write quickly so asked me to do the young fiction series of six titles for next year, and I agreed. However, although I can write quickly, the books needed a lot of research into the insect world.”
The Switch titles, about boys turning into insects, will be published in February and April, with a World Book Day title in March. Another set of amphibian-inspired stories comes in 2012.
The Unleashed series is for readers of nine-plus and two titles will appear in 2011. Sparkes has just completed a third, due in 2012, and said she plans to “take December off”, before starting on a further five Switch books and two more Unleashed titles for 2012.
