Orion races to buy McCoy thriller
21.01.13 | Charlotte Williams
Orion has bought a thriller written by champion jockey A P McCoy, set in the world of horse racing, and to be published in hardback in November 2013.
Deputy publisher Jon Wood and Orion Fiction head Susan Lamb bought world rights in the novel from Johnny Whitmore at The Stellar Group.
Wood said: "I'm so excited that A P McCoy has decided to turn his hand to fiction. With his unrivalled knowledge of the racing world and what it is like to be champion jockey, few are as well placed to create a brilliant new character in this genre. I'm sure these novels will have massive success with his army of loyal fans."
McCoy's autobiography was published by Orion in October 2011. He has won the Grand National, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, twice, including last year on horse Synchronised, and was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2010.
