Omnibus acquires Arctic Monkeys biography
15.11.12 | Charlotte Williams
Omnibus Press has acquired a biography of British band the Arctic Monkeys, with publication planned for May 2013, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of their first gig.
Commissioning editor David Barraclough bought world rights from Sarah Such at the Sarah Such Literary Agency in the title, written by music journalist and DJ Ben Osborne.
Barraclough said: "When the idea of an Arctic Monkeys book was first suggested I was amazed to discover that there had been no biography of the band published since 2006. For such an endlessly fascinating group, this seems inexplicable. And within minutes of reading Ben Osborne's proposal, I knew he was the ideal person to write the book."
The publisher said the book will include original research and interviews, following the band's rise from hip-hop loving schoolboys, through their time as an unsigned, gigging band, to their headlining of the London Olympics opening ceremony.
