Nook and Kobo to stock Amazon's e-books
30.08.12 | Bookseller Staff
E-book releases from Amazon’s New York-based publishing imprint will be available through Kobo and Barnes & Noble’s Nook, after the retailing giant signed a deal with Ingram’s distribution arm CoreSource, PaidContent has reported.
Amazon’s New York imprint, headed up by former Little, Brown publishing guru
Larry Kirshbaum, is releasing its first books this autumn.
Barnes & Noble has previously refused to sell Amazon-published print titles in its stores in protest at the retailer's "continued push for exclusivity with publishers, agents and the authors they represent", although it agreed in April to stock Amazon's children's titles.
Kirshbaum has recently described the Amazon New York imprint as operating like “a small publishing house with a large marketing division". Interviewed at Writers Speak Wednesdays at Stony Brook Southampton College in the US, according to HipHamptons.com, he said: “I’m proudest about building authors. We’re committed to finding talent and nurturing it and making it work over time.
"Our philosophy at Amazon is to discover books and put marketing into them. The main lament is a great book that comes out and no one knows it exists.”
