Newbury joins Random House India
01.08.12 | Charlotte Williams
Random House India has appointed Caroline Newbury, formerly deputy publicity director at Ebury, to the new role of vice president of marketing and publicity.
Newbury will report in to Random House India m.d. Gaurav Shrinagesh, and will be responsible for all publicity, marketing and digital marketing initiatives.
Newbury joined the publicity team at Ebury in 2002. She will now focus on delivering publicity for Random House India titles, and transforming the profiles of some of Random House's key UK brands within this market. Newbury will also work to build the Random House India brand locally, "with trade, media and consumers and on developing direct engagement with readers".
Random House chairman and c.e.o. Gail Rebuck said: "India is an important area of strategic growth and focus for us and I am delighted that Caroline has joined the Random House India team to lead their their marketing and publicity strategy. As an integrated international group we are able to nurture great talent across the publishing spectrum and provide opportunities for personal growth which not only benefit the individual but the Group as a whole."
Newbury said: "Since arriving in India I have been struck by the infectious vibrancy and energy not only within the publishing industry but the country as a whole. The book industry here is growing and changing at a pace no one could have predicted a few years ago and the chance to experience this first-hand is incredibly exciting."
