New Staying Alive editions from Bloodaxe
01.01.70 | Benedicte Page
Bloodaxe Books is publishing pocketbook and e-book editions of poetry taken from its bestselling Staying Alive anthologies.
The original Staying Alive series, which consists of Staying Alice: Real Poems for Unreal Times; Being Alive, and Being Human, has been condensed down into a smaller collection, with editor Neil Astley choosing just 100 from the series' 1,500 poems.
Essential Poems from the Staying Alive Series is published today, priced £7.99 in paperback, £12.99 in hardback and £5.51 in e-book. The full-length collections are not currently available digitally.
Poems included are Mary Oliver's "Wild Geese", as well as verse by Robert Frost, Jane Hirshfield and Langston Hughes. Also included in the new editions are background notes on each of the poets.
