Hodder & Stoughton has acquired the first four books in a new series from international crime writer Elizabeth George.
The Edge of Nowhere series is set on Whidbey Island off the coast of Seattle; it is the first time George has written about her native country.
Editor Sue Fletcher bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) in the novels from agent Robert Gottlieb of the Trident Media Group, and the first in the series, The Doghouse, will be published in 2011 with the second due out 2012.
