Harvill Secker has acquired a new crime novel by Tim Parks, provisionally titled Painting Death, which will be the final book in the crime trilogy featuring series character Morris Duckworth.
Publishing director Liz Foley bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, in the title, with publication date to be confirmed.
The title focuses on Morris, who is now a well-established Veronese businessman with a wife and children who know nothing of his role in their family's tragedies. Having kept out of trouble for 20 years, Morris begins to feel nostalgia for his criminal past, and he is drawn back into old habits.
Foley said: "We're delighted to have a new novel from Tim and Painting Death looks set to be a real pleasure to publish. Anyone who hasn't yet met Morris Duckworth has a treat in store."
