New m.d. for The Bookseller

<p>Nigel Roby, former publishing director at Centaur Media, is this week joining <em>The Bookseller </em>in the new role of managing director. He will also have responsibility for <em>The Bookseller&#39;s</em> American sister magazine, <em>Kirkus Reviews</em>.</p><p>&quot;I&#39;m confident that Nigel&#39;s analytical rigor and creativity will be hugely beneficial in continuing to develop the high potential of our literary businesses and guiding them through their next phase of growth,&quot; said Gerry Byrne, senior vice president of the entertainment group at Nielsen Business Media, owners of <em>The Bookseller</em>.</p><p>At Centaur Roby ran a division of 65 people including The Engineer and New Media Age, the market-leading internet weekly magazine which he developed from 1995 onwards. Before that, he held various roles in a 12-year spell at Haymarket, including launching Planning Week and publishing PR Week.</p><p>Roby replaces <em>The Bookseller&#39;s</em> former publisher Tracey Davies, who left in January to join Emap as publisher of Retail Week.</p>
