New licensing head for HarperCollins

HarperCollins has appointed Melanie Beer as head of licensing and content development, children's. She will join the company on 1st December and brings more than ten years of experience in licensing, gained through roles at BBC Worldwide, Warner Bros. and Jetix.
Her most recent role was as global merchandising & licensing director for ITV, London. She will report to Lucy Vanderbilt, rights director, and Mario Santos, managing drector children's.
Vanderbilt said: "I am delighted that Mel is joining us in this important strategic role. Key parts of our strategy are to become a destination for intellectual property owners and to be able to create our own entertainment content from scratch. Mel will be responsible for the exploitation of merchandising, film, and television rights."
