Macmillan Children's Books has launched its first app, Dear Zoo, ahead of the 30th anniversary of the classic lift-the-flap book by Rod Campbell in 2012. The Dear Zoo App will retail for £2.99.
Sara Lloyd, digital director for Pan Macmillan, said: "For us, an app always has to deliver something very special. We've developed a digital version of the lift-the-flap experience, but we've also delivered so much more than that, with entertaining animations, a game and exclusive new artwork from Rod himself, as well as synched audio from Caroline Quentin."
Publisher Andersen Press has also announced a digital first with the launch of its first colour e-picture books. Four titles featuring Elmer and the Little Princess, as well as the classic Not Now, Bernard, are now available on the UK's iBookstore, priced at £4.49. Little Princess title I Want to Do It by Myself! (Tony Ross) will be available for Christmas.
