Distributor NBN International will be expanding to larger premises in Plymouth this summer, increasing space by 35%. Sheila Bounford, who joined NBNi from the IPG more than five years ago, has been made deputy managing director, while Ian Wordsworth, the company’s long-standing IT Manager, becomes operations director.
The company said it was part of a 10-year commitment to the UK business from US parent company Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, an "ongoing major investment" in the business’s internal infrastructure. NBNI was formed out of Plymbridge Distributors, which went into administration in 2003, before being bought out by R&L later that year.
Both Bounford and Wordsworth will report to the company's managing director Chip Franzak, who is also chief financial officer of the international Rowman & Littlefield Group of Companies.
Franzak said: "The consolidating distribution market [and] increasing use of print-on-demand and digital publishing channels do not mean the end of customer services or print book distribution.
"Our UK business is growing healthily and we need more space to accommodate inherent sales growth and the new publisher clients moving to us. Our UK business is stronger than ever, and we are working with our publishers to ensure NBNi remains at the heart of their customer service offering."
