Nazi debut to Duckworth
28.01.09 | Victoria Gallagher
Duckworth has bought world rights for a debut novel about the Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands. Mary Morris, commissioning editor, acquired the rights to War on the Margins from the author, Libby Cone.
The title has previously been self-published in the USA and has had much blog coverage. Duckworth plans to publish the book in July this year. Morris said: "This gripping, unforgettable novel follows the deepening horror of the Nazi regime in Jersey and the extraordinary bravery of those who sought
to subvert it."
Although fiction, the story draws on many Second World War documents, broadcasts and private letters. It tells the story of two artists whose anti-Nazi campaign leads to imprisonment and a death sentence.
