Sceptre has won a "fierce auction" for two new books by Natasha Solomons. Jocasta Hamilton, senior editor, acquired world rights from Mark Stanton, agent at Jenny Brown Associates, for a six-figure sum.
The first title will be Mr Rosenblum's List, which is due to be published in hardback in April 2010. The story is set in Britain in the 50s where a German couple try to assimilate into British life by joining a golf club, but when they are rejected try to build their own. The second book is yet to be titled.
This will be Solomons first novel, she has previously written screenplays with her husband.
