Myrmidon has formed a partnership with Canongate to co-publish the mass-market paperback edition of the Newcastle-based publisher's Man Booker-shortlisted novel, The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng.
The edition will be published under a joint Myrmidon-Canongate imprint on 7th March 2013, with the two publishers to work closely on all aspects of the publishing, including the e-book, with Canongate handling the production, sales, publicity, marketing and distribution.
Myrmidon founder and publishing director Ed Handyside said: "We weren't actively considering a publishing collaboration for this title and were generally disposed to go it alone as we've always done. What shifted our judgement so radically was not only Canongate's proud record of passion and commitment to quality fiction but the genuine and unbridled enthusiasm for Twan's novel across the whole Canongate team."
Canongate publishing director Anya Serota said: "It is a testament to the acumen and flair of Ed Handyside and his team at Myrmidon that they discovered Tan Twan Eng. The Garden of Evening Mists deserves to reach the widest possible audience, and we are thrilled at Canongate to be playing a part in trying to make this happen."
