JoJo Moyes’ Me Before You has come top of an online voting poll for the Richard and Judy Spring 2012 Book Club titles promoted at W H Smith.
The “unconventional and moving” love story about a woman who becomes a carer to quadriplegic former city worker won 60% of the votes from readers through the W H Smith website, as well as scoring sales of 154,000 copies across all print editions in 2012. Total sales of all eight members of the WHS-exclusive club measured 664,000 copies — an average of 83,000 per title.
S J Watson's Before I Go to Sleep (Black Swan), was voted in second place and Louisa Young's My Dear I Wanted to Tell You (Harper), voted in third. WHS said the online poll attracted the greatest number of visitors since it began.
Moyes said: "The readers' response to this book has blown me away, and the whole experience has been, frankly, the kind of thing an author can only dream of”.
Richard and Judy’s new selection of titles for The Summer 2012 Book Club will be available in W H Smith stores from 24th May.
