Arrow Books has renewed its licence with the Georgette Heyer estate for another 10 years and acquired a "meticulously researched" biography of the author.
The licence was renewed through The Ampersand Agency. Peter Buckman, founder of The Ampersand Agency, said: "We're very pleased to renew with Arrow, who have done a terrific job keeping in print all 52 Georgette Heyer titles (including her twelve delightful crime novels), and ensuring that their handsome editions appeal to new generations of readers as well as to her loyal fans."
Kate Elton, Century and Arrow publisher said: "Georgette Heyer is one of the jewels in Arrow's crown, and I'm delighted to have secured her future with us for another ten years."
Georgina Hawtrey-Woore at Arrow has also acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in "a major new biography" of Georgette Heyer by Jennifer Kloester. Kloester has worked with the Heyer family for ten years, accessing previously unseen material, to write what Arrow said will be "the definitive biography of one of Britain's best-loved novelists". The deal was struck with Bruce Hunter at David Higham Associates. The title will be published first by William Heinemann.
Hawtrey-Woore said: "The biography is a meticulously researched, engaging and comprehensive portrait of The Queen of Regency Romance that will appeal to Georgette Heyer's many fans and curious new readers alike."
