Molecule Mayhem (Templar), a book exploring atoms, elements and other aspects of chemistry, has won the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society Award for Educational Writing.
The award honours “outstanding examples of non-fiction books for readers aged 5-11 years”.
Molecule Mayhem, by Tom Adams and illustrator Thomas Flintham, also includes instructions for seven experiments for children to try at home.
The £2,000 prize was presented yesterday (3rd December) at the Strangers’ Dining Room in the House of Commons.
The other three shortlisted titles were World Atlas by Nick Crane and David Dean (Barefoot Books); How The Weather Works: A Hands-On Guide To Our Changing Skies and Climate by Christine Dorian and Beverley Young (Templar); and The Danger Zone: Avoid Working on a Medieval Cathedral! by Fiona Macdonald and David Antram (Book House).
The award is administered by the Society of Authors.
