Miller takes over from Hunt as culture secretary
04.09.12 | Joshua Farrington
Maria Miller is to become the new culture secretary, after being promoted from her job as under secretary of state for disabled people at the Department of Work and Pensions. The MP for Basingstoke will have a dual role as minister for women and equalities, a role previously filled by Theresa May.
Miller (pictured) takes over from Jeremy Hunt, who moves to become health secretary in today's cabinet reshuffle.
No announcement has yet been made about current culture minister Ed Vaizey, who has just announced that there will be no government intervention over library closures in Lewisham, the Isle of Wight or Bolton.
