Mike Jones, Simon & Schuster’s publishing director for non-fiction, has resigned from the company and will leave this week.
Jones joined S&S UK from Bloomsbury six years ago and has published an impressive list, including names such as Gordon Brown, Iain Martin, Andrew Wilson, James Barr, David Reynolds, Ferdinand Mount and Monty Don.
As part of a brief statement give to The Bookseller, the company said: “Mike has also published bestselling memoirs by the likes of Dannii Minogue, Brian Moore, Peter Hook, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ranulph Fiennes.”
Jones told The Bookseller: "I shall be sad to leave some very good friends and valued colleagues behind, and some brilliant authors and their fantastic books. I'm going to do some structural editing work and consultancy on a freelance basis over the summer. After 20 years in publishing I am also looking forward to spending a little more time with my young family."
From Friday (20th) Jones can be contacted via email phibblet@gmail.com or phone number 07786 962842.
S&S said it was recruiting for a replacement for Jones.
