McNab, Lette and Kernick to be £1 Quick Reads

An autobiographical short from Andy McNab and a Doctor Who title will be among next year’s Quick Reads books.

The six 2013 titles, which will be priced at £1 (down from £1.99 in previous years), aim to improve adult literacy, and will hit bookshops on 14th February. The number of titles has been reduced from eight to six for 2013, with the organisers saying the decision is based on feedback from retailers, who suggested the scheme might benefit from focusing on fewer titles.

Among the titles is Today Everything Changes by Andy McNab (Corgi), a memoir about the author joining the Army at the age of 16 with a reading age of 11, and the impact the next six months in the Army education system had on his life.

The other titles are Kathy Lette’s Love is Blind (Black Swan); Wrong Time, Wrong Place by Simon Kernick (Arrow); A Dreadful Murder by Minette Walters (Pan Books); A Sea Change by Veronica Henry (Orion), and Doctor Who: The Silurian Gift by Mike Tucker (BBC Books).

The Quick Reads scheme is sponsored by Galaxy.
