19.10.11 | Katie Allen
Macmillan Children’s Books has signed up publishing rights in crime-fighting CBeebies character Rastamouse.
The deal for UK and Commonwealth rights, including e-books and apps, was struck with DHX Media, and will enable Macmillan to publish a range of Rastamouse products including storybooks, sound books, graphic novels, annuals and e-books. The first of these will launch in the UK in spring 2012.
Suzanne Carnell, publishing director of Illustrated at MCB, said: "I fell for Rastamouse the first time I saw him and so did the rest of my team! We’re thrilled to be the publisher of this lovable CBeebies star and look forward to working with him and Da Easy Crew.’"
Rastamouse added: "Dem is some seriously talented people at Macmillan. Mi and da Crew cyant wait to start makin' some irie books wid dem."
Rastamouse is a mystery-solving skateboarder who stars with his reggae band Da Easy Crew on the CBeebies show. The idea was created by Genevieve Webster and Michael De Souza, and developed from the original books published by Little Roots.
