Mills & Boon has teamed up with ITV1’s “Lorraine” to find the next big name in “steamy fiction”.
The Racy Reads competition was launched yesterday (14th January) on the show. The entries will be judged by bestselling writer Jackie Collins and Mills & Boon author Victoria Fox.
Fox said: “Having written my first book while at university, I’m delighted that this genre is getting the recognition it deserves and am looking forward to finding someone who will reignite the glory days of Collins and Cooper, when raunchy writing really was at its height.”
Entrants must submit the first 1,000 words of their story to www.itv.com/lorraine by 28th
January. Three finalists will be revealed in the week commencing 11th February and the winner announced on Valentine’s Day. The winner will finish their story and have it published by Mills and Boon in July 2013; they will receive an advance on sales, and also will join Collins in the US for a lunch.
Fox added: “There are two types of writer, those who write and those who might. Decide who you are and go for it!”
