Ben Mason, who has now left his role as an agent at Conville & Walsh, recently concluded two deals under the agency, both with Bloomsbury.
Richard Atkinson, senior commissioning editor at Bloomsbury, acquired Alex Mackay’s cookbook Everybody, Everyday from Mason. The book sets out to "solve the age-old problem of bringing joy to the daily challenge of putting dinner on the table". Mackay has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and now, among other things, runs the Cookery Workshops with Delia Smith at Norwich City Football Club.
Atkinson said: "The moment I saw Alex Mackay's incredibly energetic and ambitious plans for his next book, I knew I wanted to work with him on realising them - it's rare to be offered the chance to work with someone new of this calibre".
Mason also concluded a second deal, this time with publishing director Mike Fishwick, for The Emperor is Far Away: Adventures on the Edge of China by Beijing correspondent for the Telegraph David Eimer.
As previously reported Mason has left Conville & Walsh after two years with the literary agency to set up on his own agency, Fox Mason.
