Liverpool Waterstones branch to close
08.01.14 | Lisa Campbell
Waterstones Bold Street in Liverpool will close on 1st February.
The shop is based within half a mile of the company’s other store in the city, Liverpool One.
Altogether eight staff are affected by the store closure and but will be given new roles in other stores where possible, Waterstones said.
Reasons for the store closure were not given, but Waterstones m.d James Daunt has previously alluded to store closures being a possibility in the next few months as the company negotiates leases which are due for renewal. However, the Waterstones chief also said the company would be looking for opportunities to open new stores too.
Many Bold Street customers have reacted with sadness to the store closure on Twitter and Facebook. One, Danielle Gallagher, commented: “Such a sad ending and such a loss to Liverpool. Such an iconic part of Bold Street.”
